Casio has introduced a new limited-edition G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A watch. The watch from the GA110 series honors the life and accomplishments of Alberto Santos-Dumont. Each GA110ALIFE21-8A watch is uniquely numbered and limited to 21 pieces.
The GA110ALIFE21-8A watch is primarily black and white with red accents. The watch case and band are composed of ion-blackened stainless steel. The dial of the watch is white with red hands and accents. On the back of the watch case is a portrait of Alberto Santos-Dumont.
A two-year battery-life Casio G-Shock Movement powers the GA110ALIFE21-8A watch. The watch’s water resistance is 200 meters, and the crown is screwed down. In addition to being resistant to shock and magnetic fields, the clock is also shockproof.
This new Casio Limited Edition watch is a tribute to the life
The GA110ALIFE21-8A, with its black-and-white color scheme and red accents, feels decidedly masculine, despite CASIO’s marketing of the GA110 series as a “unisex” series. The GA110ALIFE21-8A is a limited edition model consisting of only 21 individually numbered pieces. GA110ALIFE21-8A is not an inexpensive watch, but it is equipped with a 200-meter water resistance rating and a Casio G-Shock movement. In addition, it has a screw-down crown and a shock-resistant construction. Whether you are a fan of Alberto Santos-Dumont or appreciate well-crafted timepieces, the GA110ALIFE21-8A will be a treasured addition to your collection.
The long-running Casio G-Shock brand of watches has been more influential on streetwear culture than any other watch series. For almost as long as the subculture has existed, G-Shocks have been a mainstay of streetwear wardrobes. Casio has formed many relationships with prominent streetwear labels as the G-Shock brand has grown. The newest design collaborates with skate culture brand Alife, and it’s a starkly monochromatic twist on one of the label’s classic designs, drawing inspiration from the mood of late-night New York City. The new limited edition Casio G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A is a dark and dramatic new chapter in the brand’s continuous engagement with streetwear culture, with sleek concrete gray coloring and unusual aesthetic embellishments.
The Casio G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A, like the rest of the GA110 series, has a resin casing that measures 51.2mm across and 16.9mm in thickness, giving it a substantial look on the wrist. The case’s combination of high segments and squared-off cutouts feels quite monolithic because of the light matte gray color scheme, which helps compress and simplify photos’ hefty, industrial-inspired angles and ridges. A concrete slab was used to mold the whole shape, giving the case a brutalist aesthetic. The series’ trademark, strongly guarded quartet of knurled pushers and wide-stepped bezel enhances the illusion of depth in photographs with the help of the engraved lettering on the bezel. Cased in brushed stainless steel, this Casio watch is rated to withstand water depths of up to 200 meters and has an etched Alife logo on the back.
The Casio G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A is powered by Casio’s in-house quartz Module 5146 movement. Module 5146, like other G-Shock powerplants, is very reliable and adaptable. Module 5146 has a wide variety of complexities, including a world timer, a 1/1000-second chronograph, five programmed daily alarms, a 24-hour countdown timer, an hourly time signal, a perpetual calendar accurate to 2099, and illuminated LED dials. Casio guarantees a battery life of two years and a monthly accuracy of +/-15 seconds. Casio completes the all-black aesthetic inspired by modern architecture with the G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A and a resin strap in the brand’s signature accordion shape, both in a light grey.
The new limited edition Casio G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A is an eye-catching addition to the company’s expansive streetwear inventory, thanks to its sleek new gray-on-gray color scheme and distinctive city-inspired details that update the fan-favorite GA110 platform. Casio has confirmed that the G-Shock GA110ALIFE21-8A is a limited edition model, but the company has not revealed how many of the watches will be manufactured. The eye may be purchased immediately via the manufacturer’s website or at the G-Shock SoHo Store, which opens on May 18, 2022.
